This week we had our first ever Team quarterly planning day!
Gail has always been big on business planning however it’s been a solo job to date! The 90-day planning process is what keeps our business ticking along and making small improvements however there’s a point where the job of planning and carrying out those plans becomes too much for one person AND let’s be honest, operating in a silo is no fun!
As part of the process, we have identified the key areas of the business that we want to focus on and identified a lead person to take charge of any projects and reporting. We’ve also decided that we will take turns leading and presenting the quarterly meetings.
If you’re new to business planning, the 90-day planning process is simple to follow and breaks goals and actions down so as not to add overwhelm for business owners. From your annual business plan, we identify 4 – 5 key goals to focus on for the year. These are chunked down into 90-day goals and then 90-day actions. Each action is assigned a person responsible and a due date. This is where the team comes in handy! 😊
Working as a team on our planning process gives us ownership and accountability, ensuring that change and improvements happen and that everyone understands the why behind the changes.
Each quarterly planning meeting provides the opportunity to report back to the team on progress, brainstorming about next steps and group decision making. It’s basically rinse and repeat as we work together creating our version of a successful business.
